How do you change the silencer packing?

I have a 1979 RM80c and, its really loud!!!!! its a 2 stroke. Its so loud, my dad wont let me start it up because we live in the city. so how would you change it? would you take the end of the muffler off and take the inside out somehow or what? inside, the muffler, there is a round thing with a bunch of circle holes in it all over, what is that? please help..... any information or websites is appreciated. Thanks,

no i wouldnt take anything out ! ! !if anything you will just make it louder !! !
you could try getting a diffrent exhaust pipe ! ! !and those holes are to filter the air going threw that pipe threw your packing
